Literature Text

The halls of Charrloten High were busy with student movement. Lockers slammed as students slowly made their way to their first classes; clogging the hallways with excessive chit chat. Camy trudged to her locker, stuffing her backpack into the slender metal box. She took out her schedule and reviewed it again. AP Literature it said. She blew her bangs from her face, only for them to settle right back into place. Grabbing a spiral and a pen, she headed to the opposite end of the building; the English Department.
The classroom was still fairly empty. Camy headed to the back of the room and claimed her space. She had emailed all her teacher a week earlier to explain her situation. She just hoped they would understand. Or remember. The warning bell shrieked and students slowly filed into the room. The professor walked in after the late bell, his face flushed. Has he been running? Camy thought passively. "Hey guys. Sorry. I'm late. Don't be late. Just don't." he rambled, breathing hard. he sucked in a large breath and stood up straighter, smiling. "okay. So my name's Spencer. You can call me Spencer, Spence, Mr. Spencer. Whatever floats your boat. And I'll be teaching you the wonderful art of  language." he smiled again, pulling papers out of the briefcase on his desk. Camy raised an eyebrow. What the hell? What a weird teacher.
The class passed slowly, Spencer talked animatedly about all the wonderful essays and arguments they'd be reading and writing. Camy fought the urge to roll her eyes several times that hour. Finally the bell rang and Camy hurriedly  grabbed her things, heading quickly for the door. "OH! Miss Camy!!" Spencer called at her. She sighed inwardly, she'd been expecting this. She turned and faced his desk, her face blank, body rigid. Spencer smiled, "I got your email. Thank you for letting me know. And if there's anything I can do to help..." Camy shook her head slowly, her eyes flitting to the clock. Spencer coughed. "Well. Have a good day Camy." With that she turned and  trotted towards the other side of the building. Geometry was her next class.
Geometry passed in the same way English had. The teacher was a small woman named Ms. Brown who looked a lot like a mouse. Her voice was quiet, but she managed to capture the attention of everyone in the room. I wonder how she does that... Camy thought absently. Again, the bell rang and Camy tried to scurry quickly out of the room. And again, the teacher stopped her. "Camy, I received your email. I am a little concerned on how you'll receive participation points. Have you thought of any alternatives to talking?" Camy shook her head, shifting her weight from foot to foot. Ms. Brown smiled coldly. "Well. Come to me with an alternative before the week is out, or I can't give you participation. And without it, you will not pass my class." With that she turned and went back to her desk. Camy huffed. What a bitch. She looked at the clock and cursed inwardly. She'd never get to class on time now.
The halls were nearly empty by the time Camy reached her locker. She stuffed her English binder in, and quickly took out another for French. She swung the door shut and took off sprinting in the direction of the foreign language hall. French is just around the corner. Camy thought, her breathe coming out in pants. She rounded the corner quickly and ran into something. Hard. She stumbled backwards, her books flying from her arms all across the hallway. A hand grabbed her elbow, steadying her. "Whoa. You okay?" Camy looked up. A tall boy towered over her, his hand still bracing her arm. She nodded slowly, removing her arm from his grip and moving to pick up her books. Great. She thought acidly. Now I'm late and this guy's gonna hold me up. Camy blew her bangs from her face impatiently, but they fell straight back into place. "Listen, I'm sorry about that. I spaced out. Are you sure you're alright?" The unknown boy asked her again. Her books safely in her her arms, she looked into his face. She was suddenly struck by panic. Wh-what the hell is going on? He can't-no. It's not him. It's not it's not It's NOT! The boy standing in front of her had a striking to her older brother Liam. Same gold skin, same sandy hair. The only difference, were his eyes. The eyes before her were a bright green, instead of the grey of her brother's. "Hello? Anyone home?" He waved a hand in front of her face, breaking her trance. She nodded, looking at him again. He smiled. "Heh. You don't talk much, huh?" Camy shook her head. He laughed. "Well it's nice to meet you, quiet girl. My name's Ty." He extended his hand and flashed a brilliant crooked grin.
